Professional Organizations for Teachers

1.      1.  MTNA: Music Teachers National Association ( http://www.mtna.org/ ).   I joined the CN-MTNA chapter of this organization and receive periodic emails on music teacher updates.  Their website is also very useful for answering questions music teachers might have.  Many opportunities for professional development are offered, and the membership fee for college students in Tennessee is only $17 per year.

2.       2. NAEYC: National Association for the Education of Young Children (http://www.naeyc.org/membership/options).  Although I am a member of the CNAEYC here at Carson-Newman, I do not have the official membership yet because of cost.  However, there is still much useful information on their website, including publications and accreditation criteria.  I will keep this website in mind and consider the benefits of becoming a member of the organization after graduation.
